1. In的時間用法
in的時間用法主要可分為三種：
1.in + CYSM(Century/Year/Season/Month)世紀、年份、季節、月份
例子： in 21 century 在21世紀
in 2015 在2015
in winter 在冬天
in January 在1月
2.in + Part of the day，即一天中的某一段
例子： in the afternoon 在下午
3.in + Period，一「段」期間
例子： in the week 在一個禮拜內
2. On的時間用法
on + 特定日期、日期、特定時間 (Day or Date)
例子： on 19th 在19日
on 19th, January 在1月19日
on Monday 在星期一
on one’s wedding 在某人的婚禮
on the weekend 在周末
on Christmas Day 在聖誕節

in the morning/at the night 的一般用法分別是 in/at，但如果要說某一天的早上或晚上，這時就屬於特定時間的表示了，需使用 on，例如：on Friday morning/on Friday night。
另外來比較on跟at的季節用法，on 加特殊節日的話，後面通常會加上一個 Day，如：We have big meals on Christmas Day，這是比較一般性的用法，主要敘述「聖誕節的風俗習慣」，表示我們在聖誕節有吃大餐的習慣。而 at 的用法則代表「節日的某一刻」，如：We have a date at Christmas，這比較偏向敘述當天的活動內容，強調我們在聖誕節當下吃大餐的動作狀態。
3. At的時間用法
at + 某個時間點、短暫的時段
例子： at 9:30 在9:30
at midnight 在半夜
at lunch 在午餐
at one’s wedding 在某人的婚禮上
at Christmas 在聖誕節

at 強調一個「特定」的時間點，若把時間畫成一條軸，那 at 就是指發生在線上某一個「時點」的事件；on 則用在特定的「日子」或「日期」；而 in 則有兩個用法，一個指「相對長時間」的「其中」某一段時間，另一個則是指事件發生在「一段期間之內、之後」。

in time/on time/at time 的用法，也不少人容易搞錯，in time 一般說叫做「即時」，on time 是「準時」，at time = at times，是「偶爾」的意思。另外也要注意 at time 跟 at a time 又是不同的意思喔！at a time = at one time = at once = at the same time = simultaneous，是“同時”的意思，千萬不要搞混啦！
話說回來，「在某人的生日」，到底是用 in, on 還是 at one’s birthday 呢？
開頭所提的疑問：到底是用 in, on 還是 at one’s birthday 呢？答案是 on, at 都可以用，但不能用in，原因剛也有提到，因為 in主要是指一段時間，某人的 birthday 是特定日期或是特定時間點，所以只能用 on 或 at 喔！
